FIFA WORLD-CUP QATAR 2022 (SMI-SPORTS-NOV. 20- DEC. 18, 2022)-Twenty-Four teams out thirty-two competing in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 completed two of its three group stage games after a week of competitions, with the World Cup defending champions "France" leading the pack in first place with six points in Group D, while Spain (Group E), the Netherlands (Group A), England (Group B), Croacia (Group F), and Poland (Group C) lead their respective groups in first place with 4-points in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Week-One Highlights of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022:

Group A: Ecuador defeated the host Qatar 2-0, in the opening game and drew 1-1 with the Netherlands in their second game, finishing the week with 4-points and sharing first place with the Dutch's team in Group A. In the other hand, Qatar with the loss and losing to Senegal 3-1, in their second game joined South Africa in becoming the second FIFA World Cup host nation to be eliminated in the first round group stage competition.

Group B: England( FIFA World#5) routed Iran 6-2, with Bukayo Saka scoring two goals and four different players scoring a goal apiece.And the United States who are back in the World Cup arena after being absent in Russia 2018, have accumulated two points with two draws; one against Wales 1-1, in the opening game and a scoreless draw with England in the second game.The Stars and Stripes needs a victory on their next game against Iran to advance to the second round of the tournament.

Group C: Saudi-Arabia pulled one of the biggest upset of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in their opening game, after defeating Argentina 2-1, and shocking the world with a historic win over the two-time FIFA world cup champions Argentina. Saudi Arabia became the first Asian national team in world cup competitions to upset and shock the world of soccer with a win over Argentina and the second nation after Cameroon from Africa stunned the Argentinians 1-0, in the opening game at the FIFA World Cup Italy in 1990. 

Poland leads Group C with 4-points with a scoreless draw with Mexico and a victory over Saudi Arabia 2-0, in the second stage group game. In the other hand, Argentina share second place with Saudi Arabia with 3-points after defeating Mexico 2-0, in their second game in group C.

Group D: The defending FIFA World Champions France leads the group with 6-points after claiming victories over Australia 4-1, and Denmark 2-1, in the first two group stage games.Australia is in second place with 3-points after defeating
Tunisia 1-0, in the standings. 

Group E: Japan stunned world-ranked#12 Germany 2-1, in the opening group stage game. Spain leads the group E with 4-points after routing Costa Rica 7-0, and finishing 1-1, with Germany in the second stage group game. In the other hand Germany who was eliminated in the first round in the World Cup Russia in 2018,  are in last place and once again with the chance to be eliminated unless they rout Costa Rica on their final stage group game Thursday December 02, and Spain defeats or draws Japan with a minimum difference in order to advance to the next round. 

Group F: Croacia and Morroco share first place with 4-points in Group F after both teams played a scoreless draw in the group opening stage game and claiming victories in their second game. Croacia defeated Canada 4-1, in their second game, eliminating the Canadians out of the tournament whom returned after 36-years to the FIFA World Cup arena.And Morroco stuns World#2 Belgium 2-0, with goals late in the second half and stoppage time to claim a historic win over the Belgians.
