World-Renowned Chefs David Chang, Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette Join

US Open Veteran Culinary Masters Masaharu Morimoto, David Burke, Tony Mantuano and Ed Brown at the 2016 US Open

NEW YORK (SMI-WIRE,08.25.16) The USTA held a special preview food tasting event during lunch today for the press,introducing a line-up of well known chefs who will enchant the US Open audience with their 2016 new menu and signature dishes during the tournament.

This year’s US Open brings with it a wide variety of diverse flavors and dining experiences, courtesy of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and official US Open restaurant partner, Levy Restaurants.

Each year, the US Open creates the ultimate culinary celebration for more than 700,000 fans. This year, fans can get a taste of top trends from New York dining hotspots in FoodVillage, including a US Open-exclusive chicken sandwich from David Chang’s Fuku, Korilla BBQ (of Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race fame), and the first-ever wholly vegetarian and vegan menu from Soomsoom.

The chefs were introduced in a small press conference with media members in attendance and who were available for interviews as well.The chefs mentioned were as follow David Burke, David Chang,Ken Oringer,Tony Mantuano, Ed Brown & special celebrity guest chef Masaharu Morimoto.

The press were enchanted with a delicious "Angry Taco " and BLT Fish Shack by David Burke.

The US Open attracts more than 700,000 fans throughout the course of the tournament.

    • 275,000 melon balls (used to garnish the US Open signature Honey Deuce)

    • 90,000 pounds of beef

    • 7.5 tons of crab, shrimp and lobster

    • 400,000 individual berries

    • 225,000 hamburgers and hot dogs

    • 85,000 pounds of poultry

    • 12.5 tons of lettuce

    • 66,000 bananas

    • 35,000 pounds of tomatoes

    • 7,000 specialty tennis ball cookies
