PHILADELPHIA, PA(SMI-GLOBAL-SPORTS-JUNE 14-JULY 13, 2025)-Top-ranked English club " Chelsea F.C." from the Premier League defeated Palmeiras (Brazil) 2-1, in quarterfinal knock-out game, advances to semifinals rounds of the FIFA Club World Cup at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
With the win, Chelsea F.C. advance to semis to face Fluminense (Brazil) who defeated Al-Hilal(Saudi-Arabia) 2-1, on Tues. July 08, at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
The English dominated and outperformed the Brazilians in the game-stats
with 19-7, shots overall to goal and 6-2, on target and possession 63%-37%.
Chelsea FC also known as " The Blues" made its first attempt on goal with a counter-attack through the middle, defender Marc Cucurella(Spain) passed the ball to midfielder Cole Palmer who shot a right-footed from 25-yards towards goal but goalkeeper Weverton deflected the shot by parring the ball away onto the field for the first clear chance for the English to score at 04' mark.
Ten minutes later, in another counter-attack through the right-side field defender Trevoh Chalobah(English) gave a perfect pass to Cole Palmer just out-side the 18', and who from inside the penalty box shot a rolling left-footed to the left-goalpost out of the reach of the goalkeeper Weverton that ended in back of the net to put Chelsea FC 1-0, over Palmeiras at 16' mark.
The Blues kept the pressure and with another offensive attack, Cole Palmer passed the ball just over the penalty box to forward Christophe Nkuku who was all alone inside the 18' and shot to the sky over the crossbar to closed-out the half 1-0, in favor of Chelsea F.C.
With 8' into the half, Palmeiras found the equalizer through striker Estevao to tie the game 1-1, at 53' mark. Midfielder Richard Rios (Colombia) through the right-side corner sent a rolling pass inside the 18' finding Estevao who shot a right-footed canon to goal hitting the lower crossbar and ending in back of the net for his first goal of the tournament and send the Brazilian's fans in wild celebration.
After back & forth counter-attacks from both teams without any major danger at either goal for the next 30' minutes, Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez passed the ball to defender Malo Gusto who from inside the 18' shot a left-footed to goal but it was deflected by Palmeiras defender Augustine Giay's foot that ended in back of the net for Own goal to secure the 2-1, victory for Chelsea FC over Palmeiras.
With the win, Chelsea F.C. advance to semifinals to face Fluminense on Tuesday June 08, at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford NJ.
