EAST RUTHERFORD NJ(SMI-GLOBAL-SPORTS-JUNE 4-JULY 13, 2025)-The 2021 Conmebol Libertadores Club champions " SE Palmeiras "(Brazil) & FC Porto(Portugal) played a scoreless draw game on their debut at 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with both teams earning one point each in the standings of Group A, at Metlife Stadium.
Palmeiras outperformed Porto in the game stats but neither team could find the back of the net to settled for the tie and even the 4-teams with one point each in Group A.
The Brazilians missed a clear opportunity at 4', when Porto's goalkeeper Claudio Ramos cleared a short pass to defender Alan Varela and kicked the ball but it was intercepted by midfielder midfielder Mauricio who gave it to Estevao inside the 18, and shot a left-footed wide barely missing the left-goal post.
Porto answered back with two counter-attacks within 5' minute apart when
Rodrigo Mora shot a right-footed from inside the box and hitting wide at 14' and 3' later defender Alan Varelas centered a free kick inside the box, finding Martim Fernandes who headed to goal but it was tipped-away by goalkeeper Weverton Pereira da Silva for a corner kick at 17' mark.
With the game clock winding down and stoppage time, Palmeiras counter-attack through the left-side field, V. Roque crossed the ball inside the box to Estevao who kicked to goal but it was blocked by Ramos and in the rebound Mauricio shot from inside the 6-yard box and it was saved once again by Ramos back onto the field to Rios who shot and its was intercepted at the goal line by Martim Fernandes for a sensation saved and closed out the half scoreless.
In the second half, both teams traded back and fourth counter-attack withount any major danger of goal on either side for the final score of 0-0, between
FC Palmeiras and FC Porto of Portugal.
FC Palmeiras will face Al Ahly on Thursday June 19, at Metlife Stadium while
FC Porto will face Inter Miami FC on Thursday June 19, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
