PHILADELPHIA, PA (SMI-GLOBAL-SPORTS-JUNE 14-JULY 13, 2025)-Two top-ranked Brazilian Clubs " Palmeiras" & "Botafogo" collided in a showdown match in the knock-out round of 16, with Palmeiras finishing victorious 1-0, in extra-time over its compatriots on Saturday's Noon game at Lincoln Financial Field.

With the 1-0, win, Palmeiras knock-out Botafogo out of the tournament and advances to face Chelsea who beat Benfica 4-1, in another round of 16, match.  

The much anticipated match between these 2-foes, brought a crowd of 33,657 in attendance with majority Palmeiras' fans who witnessed Paulinho scored the winning goal at 100' in Extra-time, snapping Botafogo 5-winning streak against them, and Palmeiras becoming the first team of the tournament to advance to the Quarterfinals rounds.

Palmeiras dominated the first and were more effective controlling the ball and game-time with continuous counter-attacks and shots to goal.

With three minute remaining in the half, Botafogo's midfielder Marlon Freitas on
a personal play evaded 4-defenders and ran inside the penalty box and shot a right-footed ending wide out of bounce for a goal-kick at 42' mark.

In the final counter-attack of the first half and Palmeiras in control of the ball through the leftside field, defender Joaquin Piquerez sent a crossed pass to right-side field finding midfielder Richard Rios who at the 18'-yard line shot a canon over the crossbar to end the half scoreless.   

The second half began with Palmeiras' forward Stevao kicked a left-footed just outside the penalty box towards goal but it was saved by goalkeeper John who parry the ball away at 46' mark. 

Palmeiras kept the pressure, and in another counter-attack through the left-side field, defender Joaquin Piquerez centered the ball inside the box finding midfielder Mauricio who headed to goal but once again goalkeeper John who has been playing protagonist during the entire game, saved the shot deflecting the ball with his left-hand over the crossbar for a corner kick and closed-out the game with scoreless tie.

Seven minute in extra-time, Midfieldder Richard Rios received a pass to center and kicked a canon right-footed to goal from 20-yards away but goalkeeper John saved the shot by parrying the ball away for a corner kick.

With Palmeira's fans chanting and singing supporting their team, forward Paulinho through the right-side field on a personal play, ran with the ball inside the penalty box evading a defender and kicked a rolling left-footed ending in back of the net 
to seal a 1-0, win for Palmeiras over Botafogo.
