ICONIC BLACK ACTOR & ACTIVIST " SIDNEY POITIER " HAS PASSED AWAY AT 94..!
LOS ANGELES, CA-(SMI-ENTERTAINMENT, 01.06-01.07.22)-Renowned Bahamian-American actor, film director and ambassador who's legacy helped to change racial disparities and set new standards for more actors of diverse background of future generations to succeed, has died at 94, Today January 06, at his home in Los Angeles.
During his career, Poitier has amassed numerous accolades including an Oscars in the category for Best Actor with " Lilies of the Field" in 1963, becoming the first Black actor in the history of cinematography to win such a prestigious award. He also was awarded with a Grammy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, a British Academy Film Award, Academy Honorary Award in 2001 for his contribution to Lifetime achievement in film in 2001, star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Kennedy Center Honor (2009), Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama, and Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 1974.
