" STEPHEN SONDHEIM " PASSED AWAY AT 91..!
NEW YORK,NY(SMI-ENTERTAINMENT,11.26-11.27.21)-Legendary US theater composer and lyricist " Stephen Sondheim", recognized as one of the greatest figure in the musical theater of the 20th Century passed away at 91, Friday November 26, at his home in Roxbury, Connecticut.
Sondheim leaves a legacy having reinvented the American musical theater with unconventional theme shows and unparalleled music and lyrics on various aspects of life.
Sondheim's famous works as composer and lyricist included: The writing for the iconic " West Side Story " in 1957 and Gypsy in 1959. A funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum, Company(1970),Follies (1971), A Little Night Music (1973), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1979), Sunday in the Park with George (1984) and Into the woods (1987).
Stephen Sondheim amassed numerous accolades throughout his career that included nine Tony Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Tony in 2008), an Academy Award, eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, a Laurence Olivier Award, and a 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom.
