Recent News         Manhattan's Second Half Strong Offensive Attack Defeat                                          Canisius, 78-69 !

NEW YORK (SMI-WIRE,02.06.15)Manhattan opened the second half with a 21-3 run en route to posting a 78-69 win over Canisius & extend its winning streak to four games in a MAAC action @ Draddy Gymn Manhattan College.

Leading 30-28 at the break, Manhattan posted one of its most dominating stretches of the season over the first 9:17 of the second half. The Jaspers outscored Canisius 21-3 while forcing the Golden Griffins into nine-straight missed shots and seven turnovers in opening up a  game-high 20-point lead.

Despite struggling from the field, the Griffs nearly erased a 20-point second half deficit, as the Griffs got the game within four points at 73-69 with 55 seconds left to play after Robertson scored a traditional 3-point play with a driving bucket and a free-throw. On the ensuing in-bounds pass, Robertson came up with a steal, but he was unable to score on his drive to the hoop, and Canisius was forced to foul Manhattan Shane Richards, who scored a pair of free-throws to stretch the lead back to six points at 75-69 with 46 seconds to play. Manhattan forced another Canisius turnover on the Griffs’ next trip down the floor and Andujar drained two more from the stripe to help seal the victory.Manhattan had four players in double figures with 
Emmy Andujar scoring a team-best 20 points & nine rebounds.

Ashton Pankey added 18 points, while Shane Richards & Rich Smith contributed 16 points a piece in the victory.

With the win, the Jaspers improved to 12-10 overall in the season and 9-4 in the MAAC while the Golden Griffins fall to 12-10 and 7-6 in the league.
