NEW JERSEY (SMI-WIRE,07.22.15)The New York Red Bulls used a team of second-division players and scored 4 goals in the second half to defeat the English Premier League defending champions , Chelsea F.C. 4-2 during its first game on its U.S. pre-season exhibition tour & first match in the international Champions Cup 2015 @ Red Bulls Arena Harrison NJ.
Chelsea controlled the game most of the first half until Loic Remy gave the Blues the lead in the 26th minute when Victor Moses passed the ball down the right field to Oscar & sent a cross to an open Remy who was able to fire his shot past Reynish to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead at the end of the half.
In the second half , the NY RedBulls tied the score at one when John Terry’s poor backpass was seized upon by Castellanos, who beat Begovic to the ball to equalise on 51 minutes.From there on, the NY RedBulls controlled the offensive attack of the game and went on front of 2-1 when Chelsea defensive player ,Cesar Azpilicueta did not get close enough to cut out a cross, which was picked out Tyler Adams, unmarked inside the box and headed past out of the reach of goalkeeper Begovic to put New York in front for the first time in the game.. Four minutes later, Sean Davis cleaned up a rebound and all of a sudden it was 3-1 in favor of New York.Chelsea answered back when Eden Hazard scored to make it 3-2, firing into the bottom corner after collecting a well-worked free-kick on inside the box and giving the Blues hope to tied the game.When it looked like the Blues were going to make a comeback, Sean Davis stuned the crowd with his second of the night in the 77th minute, with the home fans going absolutely wild and sealing the victory for the RedBulls.
