NEW YORK, NY(SMI-SPORTS-JULY 24, 2022)-NYCFC midfielder Maxi Moralez and attack Heber do Santos scored a goal in each half as New York defeated the Inter-Miami FC 2-0, in MLS play on a Saturday's evening match at the Legendary Yankees Stadium in the Bronx, New York City.
The Boys in Blue opened the scored first through Maxi Moralez at 12' minute of the game when he received a rolling soft pass inside the box from Taty Castellanos and kicked a hard left-footed across the right goalpost that ended in the back of the net to put the Cityzens in front 1-0, over Inter Miami.
New York kept the pressure and in another counter-attack through the left-side field at the 33' minute, Maxi Moralez passed the ball to defender Malte Amundsen inside the 18' who immediately gave it to Castellanos and scored for the second goal of the game but it was called back due to a late offside call by the referee to keep the game 1-0, in favor of New York.
Miami went to the offensive and almost tie the game at 43' when forward Gonzalo Higuain passed the ball inside box to defender Kieran Gibbs who shot a hard left-footed hitting NYCFC' s goalkeeper Sean Johnson on the chest for a sensational save and ending the half with NYCFC leading 1-0, over Miami.
In the second half, both teams traded counter-attacks without any major dangerous until NYCFC's forward Heber Do Santos scored the second goal of the game at 75' minute on a counter-attack through the middle, Santi Rodriguez passed the ball to Malte Amundsen inside the box who was coming running from behind through the leftside field and centered it across finding Heber who tapped the ball inside the back of the net with a left-footed to seal the 2-0, victory of the Boys in blue over the Inter-Miami FC.
