NYCFC DEFEATS PHILADELPHIA UNION 2-1,
AND WINS THE 2021 MLS EASTERN CROWN ...!
CHESTER, PA (SMI-SPORTS, 12.05.21)-Maxi Moralez and Talles Magno scored a goal apiece in the second half, as NYC FC defeats the Philadelphia Union 2-1, in the MLS Eastern championship final match, winning the 2021 MLS East crown for the first time on franchise history at Subaru Park, in Chester, Pennsylvania.
The Boys in Blue who began the 2021 post-season play seeded #4, wins its 7th consecutive victory including three play-off games and came from behind to crowned themselves the new 2021 MLS Eastern champions.
With the first half ending scoreless, NYC FC began the second half more aggressive, but during an unfortunate counter-attack by Philadelphia, defender Alexander Callens deflected a ball inside the 18th that ended in the back of his own goal to put the Union ahead 1-0, at 63rd minute.
New York responded and tied the game at one 90' seconds later through an offensive attack by Maxime Chanot, who shot a hard kicked directed to the Phialdelphia's goal with Philadelphia's goalkeeper Matt Freeze deflecting the ball finding Maxi Morlez inside the 18' all alone and who scored with an open net to even the game at one.
With few minutes left into the game and what appeared that both team were heading to two overtime periods, NYC FC striker,
Talles Magno scored his 3rd goal of the season and the winning goal for New York at 87' minute to seal the historic victory over Philadelphia in the 2021 MLS Eastern final match.
With the win today, the Cytizens advances to the 2021 MLS Final championship game to face the Portland Timbers-who defeated Real Salt Lake 2-0, in the 2021 MLS Western final game yesterday next Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Providence Park, in Portland, Oregon.
