BRONX, NEW YORK(SMI-SPORTS, SEPT 17, 2022)-NYCFC and NYRedBulls collided in another edition of NY/NJ Clasico known " Hudson-River Derby" where the Boys in Blue finished victorious 2-0, over the Redbulls, sweeping the 2022 series at legendary Yankees Stadium, in the Bronx NYC.
With the victory, the Citizens improved to (14-7-11) with 49-points, and remain in 4rd place in the MLS East standings with 2-games left in the 2022 season.
NYCFC' defender Alexander Callens was once again the protagonist of the game like the game last Wednesday night against Atlas FC, opening the score very early on the Citizen's first offensive attack with a header at :51's second of the game. Maxi Morales centered the ball inside the penalty box through a corner-kick finding midfielder Santiago Rodriguez who back-kicked the ball to Alexander Callens who headed inside back of the net to put the Boys in Blue in front 1-0, over the RedBulls.
The ReBulls had the opportunity to tie the score at 11' minute when midfielder Lewis Morgan through the left-side field centered the ball inside the 18', and NYCFC's goalkeeper Sean Johnson in a poorly effort to clear-out the ball gave it to Luquinhas who kicked a low left-footed but it was intercepted and cleared by Alexander Callens out of the Goal-line.
NYCFC kept pressure and 10' minutes later through another corner kick, Maxi Morales sent ball inside the 18', finding Thiago Martins who gave it to Gabriel Pereira outside the box and immediately centered to Santiago Rodriguez who scored with low left-footed to put the Boys in Blue in front 2-0, his third of the season and seal the victory over the NYRedbulls.
