HARRISON, NJ(SMI-SPORTS, AUGUST 27, 2022)-Three midfielders; Daniel Edelman, Caden Clark & Lewis Morgan scored a goal each as New York RedBulls overcome Inter-Miami CF 3-1, in MLS play and during a Saturday's evening game at RedBulls Arena in Harrison, NJ.
With the win, New York snapped its 4-game winless streak at home and stay in fourth place in the MLS East standings with 44 points and 6-games remaining in the season.
The visitors opened the score first through a free kick executed by forward Gonzalo Higuain, who shot a curvy cannon that landed in the back of the net, stunning the crowd and putting Miami 1-0, in front at 19' minute of game.
New York went the offensive and 8' minutes later they caught a break when Miami's midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo was sent-off due to a dangerous foul against defender Andres Reyes leaving Miami with 10-men at 27' minute.
The RedBulls found the equalizer at 42' minute during a counter-attack through the middle, Cristian Casseres Jr. passed it to John Tolkin who immediately gave it to Lewis Morgan who shot a left-footed for his 12th goal of the season and tie the game 1-1, at the half.
In the second half, New York picked-up where the left off and 7-minute later midfielder Daniel Edelman scored his first MLS goal of his career to put the RedBulls ahead 2-1, at 57' minute of the second half. Kyle Duncan centered the ball inside the 18' and Miami's defender Damion Lowe headed the ball short in an effort to clear the ball out but Edelman intercepted the ball who immediately kicked a hard right-footed for the 2-1, in favor of New York.
In the 69' minute Redbulls' defender Kyle Duncan received a second yellow card for a dangerous play against Miami's defender Christopher McVey and was sent-off leaving both teams playing the rest of the game with 10-men on the field.
After numerous offensive attack, RedBulls' midfielder Caden Clark scored his first goal of the 2022 MLS season at 73' minute to seal the victory of 3-1, for New York over Inter-Miami.
