Recent News          NYU Defeats Emory 96-92 & Still A Strong Contender

                                 in The UAA !

NEW YORK (SMI-WIRE,02.01.15) Hakeem Harris scored a career-high 28 points, 19 in the second half, as the New York University men's basketball team defeated Emory University 96-92 , during a (UAA) game @ the Coles Sports Center, NYU University.
During a first half in which there were six lead changes, nine ties and neither team led by more than six points, Costis Gontikas's layup with 29 seconds left in the half gave NYU a 38-36 lead ending the first half.
The second half began with both teams trading baskets & keeping the score within reach with great momentum and high energy the rest of the way.

With the clock winding down,Emory launched a serious comeback and pulled within one, 91-90, on Davis Rao's three-pointer with 29 seconds left in the game.
Ross Udine then connected on two free throws for NYU, but the Eagles again pulled within one on Michael Florin's layup with 22 seconds remaining.
Udine followed with another free throw before Emory's Jonathan Terry missed on a three-point attempt.Harris grabbed the rebound, was fouled, and added one more point to the Violets' lead.
Emory did not score again and Evan Kupferberg added one more free throw with five seconds left to clinch the NYU victory.
"Emory plays up-tempo and can score quick," said NYU Senior Assistant Coach John Pelin. "They made some shots, but we stuck with it and made our free throws down the stretch."

The Violets had 8 players scoring in the game including 5 players in double figures.

Hakeem Harris recorded 28 points,Evan Kupferberg added 17 while Costis Gontikas contributed with 15 points.Also Ross Udine scored 10 & Iyoha Agho added 11 for the victory.

With the win, NYU improved to 13-5 overall in the season & 4-3 in the UAA conference.
