Long Shot " Seize The Grey" Wins the 149th Preakness Stakes Stunning Kentucky Derby Winner Mystik Dan
at Pimlico Race Course...!

BALTIMORE, MD (SMI-GLOBAL-SPORTS-MAY 17-19, 2024)-Long Shot Seize The Gray (9-1, Odds) wins the 149th Preakness Steaks by 2 1/2 lengths in front of the favorite and 2024 Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan in a muddy track and sensational finish down the stretch at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

 

With the victory, Jockey Jaime Torres claimed his first win in a Triple-Crown race while giving Hall of fame trainer " D Wayne Lukas his 7th Preakness victory who becames the oldest trainer at age 88, to accomplish it.

 

Seize the Grey took the lead from the start and never looked back for the entire

1 3/16-mile race.Mystik Dan and Imagination kept the pace 1,2 &3 for the first 3/4 mile run. With Seize the Grey still in the lead closer inside the rail track, Mystik Dan made a move down the stretch and pulled close to a body length through the outside middle but Seize the Grey pulled away to win the 149th Preakness crossing the finish line in 1:56.82, while denying Mystik Dan the chance for a Triple Crown run.

 

The purse of the 149th Preakness Stakes was $2,000,000 and Seize the Grey received $1.2 Million for finishing first, Mystik Dan $400,000 for 2nd place while  Catching Freedom took the prize money of $220,000 for 3rd place in the race.
