NEW YORK(SMIWIRE,08.27-09.09.18)-Two world ranked American women's tennis players, Venus Williams (ranked#16),and her sister Serena(ranked#17), faced each other in the third round of the 2018 US Open Grand Slam, where Serena finished victorious in two sets (6-1,6-2), thus advancing to the 4th round of the US Grand Slam at The Billie Jean King Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows, NY.

 

A heat wave stormed into New York City area since the start of the US Open, where new rules needed to be implemented for safety of the game and to avoid any players injuries.The new rules added by the USTA were, for all men and women's singles matches, a 10-minute break will be allowed between the third & fourth sets if either player requests such a break.The change of shirts during the games between sets if players needed to cool off or rest and onsite medical attention personnel if needed to assist any players, during the remaining of the competitions of the 2018 US Open.

A heat-wave storm highlight and a historic record in attendance of 100,000 fans, visited the US Open in a single day combined ( Day & Night Session ), for the first time in the history of the US Open, was announced by the USTA the following day.

 

The match between the Williams' sister was an emotional one, where the crowd rooted for both of them and cheer in every point earned. Serena controlled the game and took the lead from the start, a lead that was never relinquished.

With this victory, Serena adavnce to the fourth round and will face Kaia Kanepi (ranked #44) from Estonian, on Sunday September 02, at  Arthur Ashe Stadium.

It was a nice experience for the new audience that never seen the two sisters battle each other previously and rivalry that exist between these two siblings, when they get to meet each other in a major competion like the US Open." It feels good for the match to be over it. Win or lose. It just feel good that that's done." said Serena Williams after defeating her sister Venus.

"All of them, from the first one to the last. Obviously the first one was pretty awesome and pretty emotional, just a rollercoaster. This one, the last so far, has been the same feeling ". Said Serena, when asked about moments that were either emotional or dramatic for her playing her sister Venus in all her years.

"Well, She obviously knows how to win. She played and beat the #1 seed ( Simona Halep, ranked #1). I've played her a lot. We've had some close matches. Each match is new. She knows how to play very good tennis." said Serena Williams, when asked about her next match against Kaia Kanepi (ranked#44).
