INDIANAPOLIS, IN(SMISPORTS-COLLEGE, 03.17.22)-Daryl Banks and Doug Edert combined for 47-points, as the NCAA 15-seed St Peter's men's basketball team stunned the #2 seed Kentucky Wildcats 85-79, in historic overtime win in the first round of the NCAA DI Men's basketball  East Region tournament at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

With the win, the Peacocks made history in winning its first ever NCAA tournament victory in school program and did it by knocking out the 8-time national champions the Kentucky Wildcats.

St Peter's historic victory over Wildcats was the fourth upset of today's NCAA tournament schedule games as the 12-seed New Mexico knocked-off the 5-seed Connecticut 70-63, Michigan 75-63, over Colorado State and Richmond 67-63, over Iowa earlier in the day but the Peacocks upset over Kentucky surpasses the others in significance.

St Peter's were led by Daryl Banks with 27 points including going 5 out 8 from outside the arc while Doug Edert added 20 with 4-rebounds, 2-assists and 2-triples.

Kentucky were led by Oscar Tshiebwe with 30 points and 16 rebounds and Sahvir Wheeler added 11 points with 4-rebounds in the loss.

Saint Peter's next opponent will be either No. 7 Murray State or No. 10 San Francisco in the second round on Saturday.
