During the 11-days slate of the festival, Starlight Illustrated had the opportunity to attend and write a review of the Spotlight Music Documentary & world premiere of " UNCHARTED ":

" UNCHARTED : A spotlight Music documentary about Alicia Keys' She is the Music mentoring camp  where US director Beth Aala  takes us deep into the music industry business exposing the lack of opportunities for blacks and brown artists.

Cast: Alicia Keys, Ann Mincieli, Alex Mali, Ambi Lyrics, Ayoni, DaVionne, Dianna Lopez, Ebonie Smith, G.L.A.M., Gloria Kaba, Jean Deaux, Jody Gerson, Lanita Smith, Maria Ayerbe, TT the Artist, Linda Perry, Nija Charles.

One of the great voices of our day, Alicia Keys and others brought together a number of women of color o make music. Thinking the creative process would be stymied by the time constraints given, was I ever wrong and happily so. Out to the West Coast, artists from NYC, Chicago etc. went to spend a few days and come up with songs. Some of those depicted here

were already in the industry but now at a higher level, they rose to the occasion in a big way here.

Watching the song writing process was a revelation to me. Music, lyrics, parts of the lyrics getting strung together. Refining this work is anther aspect I found very interesting. The hope is to sell off some of these songs, generate money to keep them going, this movie succeeds at all levels.

A great film for anyone with an interest in learning about music making or not since it is very interesting and offers a window into this world. We wish all well as they forge forward in their careers and BRAVO! To Keys and Company.
